Contemporary Open-Plan Living and Dining Room
This project was designed to unify a living and dining space into one light-filled, elegant open plan room. The brief: calm tones, smart flow, and stylish comfort. We have successfully designed a contemporary open plan interior where every detail works together, blending form and function beautifully.
Design Board: The Concept Comes to Life
The moodboard brings together the colour palette, furniture choices, lighting and styling that informed the final scheme. From sculptural lighting and rounded furniture to light textures and woven accents, it’s a curated approach that captures a sense of contemporary softness and balance.
Living Room: Soft Layers and Subtle Warmth
In the living zone, a cream curved-arm sofa sets the tone — timeless, neutral, and inviting. It’s framed by an understated arc floor lamp and grounded by a light rug that creates subtle contrast with the walnut-toned flooring. Tonal abstract artwork and textured cushions bring a hint of depth, while natural light from black-framed French doors keeps the mood fresh and uplifting.
Dining Area: Understated Elegance
The dining area echoes the living space’s softness. A six-seater dining table with rounded edges is paired with cream upholstered chairs and a classic glass pendant overhead. Framed abstract artworks in calming tones create a clean focal point, while a large rug beneath the table defines the zone without disrupting the room’s flow.
Layout Plan: Designing with Flow
Our furniture layout plan mapped the perfect balance between practical space planning and visual symmetry. It clearly defines the lounge and dining zones while allowing them to interact seamlessly. The arrangement ensures everything feels considered, comfortable, and proportionate, crucial in open plan interiors.
The Result
This elegant, modern space is a perfect example of our signature approach: stylish, understated, and liveable. The warm materials, gentle lines and harmonious palette make this home feel refined but entirely comfortable, just how a contemporary open plan interior should be.
